This competition is held annually, during the summer months, and is open to all residents within the Alsager town council area.
It is promoted and sponsored by Alsager Town Council and administered by the Alsager Gardens Association.
The aim of the competition is to increase awareness of and interest in the pleasure of gardening as a healthy worthwhile and stimulating hobby, and to encourage residents to take pride in their surroundings of their properties and in the appearance of the town in general.
There are several different entry classes designed to include all residents young and old; these are revised each year and, where necessary, adjusted to reflect modern gardening trends. All competition classes are listed on the entry forms. Some of the classes are
- Best Overall Garden
- Best Allotment (Entries must identify their plot by site and plot number)
- Best Floral Garden – front or side or rear
- Best Cottage Garden
- Best Ornamental Garden – front or side or rear
- Best Hanging Basket or Container Display
- Best first-time entrant
There is also a community award sponsored by St Margaret Church for a group of properties whose front garden display announces the appearance of the location.
Entry forms are available in May from the Council Offices, the Gardens Association Trading Hut at Cedar Avenue, the Secretary of the Gardens Association
or via this link
For further information please contact either the chairman or the president of Alsager Gardens Association.
