Newsletter 1- January 2006

Dear member

The committee elected by you at the AGM has taken on board a suggestion that we should try to improve communications with the membership by publishing a newsletter twice a year. It is intended to including relevant topics on gardening matters, not just a notice of the Annual General Meeting and Seed List in the winter and the Show Schedule in the summer.

We would like you to consider a number of things in preparation for the 2006 season. We need to spread the word about the association and increase our membership, have you told your neighbour's, friends, relations, and workmate, about the benefits of joining?

The annual subscription of £2.50 in 2005 can easily be saved on just a few purchases in the Association Trading hut. Please support the association by purchasing as many of your gardening needs as possible from the Garden hut. I know that many of you like to visit the Garden centres and DIY shops on a Sunday but please consider doing that after you have visited the trading hut in Cedar Avenue. Many of the items there are much cheaper as we are a not for profit organisation and you can talk to members who are all local gardeners.

Please remember it is your association and a few people regularly give their time and talents to staffing the hut and carry out organisational work; it is up to us all to support them. Finally we would like to remind you that under health and safety regulations whilst using chemicals on your allotments it is necessary for you to wear the necessary protective clothing.

Jeremy Smith - President.
