Annual Alsager Gardens and Allotments Competition

This competition did not go ahead in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID 19 but is usually held annually, during the summer months, and is open to all residents within the Alsager Town Council area

It is promoted and sponsored by Alsager Town Council and administered by the Alsager Gardens Association.

The aim of the competition is to increase awareness of and interest in the pleasure of gardening as a healthy worthwhile and stimulating hobby, and to encourage residents to take pride in the surroundings of their properties and in the appearance of the town in general.

There are several different entry classes designed to include all residents young and old; these are revised each year and, where necessary, adjusted to reflect modern gardening trends.

Best Gardens Competition 2022

This year there are 3 categories – best garden, best summer display and best commercial display.

Best garden can be anything from a formal garden layout to a traditional cottage garden and will be judged on both front and back gardens. With points awarded for tidiness, species used, novelty and environmental friendliness.

Best summer display is based on summer bedding and flowering plants display and will be judged on front garden displays only, with points awarded for colour use, styles of planters and size of display.

Best commercial display is open to summer bedding plants and flowering plants as well as established borders and beds.

Entry is free for all 3 categories, with prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category. Judging will take place in late July, (with a date to be confirmed to entrants).

Closing date for entries is Sunday July 17th

If you would like to enter, please contact Show Secretary, Simon Roberson on mavhack@hotmail.com
